Your first stop in DC will be the newest museum of the Smithsonian Institution, The National Museum of African American History and Culture (pending museum opening date).The only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. (Finally, you will go back in time and enjoy dinner in an elegant Colonial Tavern, circa 1792.The staff is dressed in colonial character and food from colonial era is served.A wonderful experience!The following morning will begin with time for you to explore your choice of the Smithsonian Institution’s museums on the National Mall including National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, National Gallery of Art, National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of the American Indian, Freer Gallery of Art, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and more. Lunch on your own at the museum cafes and local food eateries. You will board the bus to head to Mt Vernon for a tour of the mansion and to explore the grounds including Washington’s Tomb, the Slave Memorial and the Gardens. Dinner will be enjoyed as a group at the Mt Vernon Inn before a guided Illuminated Monument Night bus Tour.Your last day you will experience the U.S. Airforce Memorial with amazing views of the DC area and the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial before a lovely lunch cruise sailing down the beautiful Potomac River. Listen and dance to live music, enjoy fine dining, and take in beautiful, unobstructed views of our nation’s capital while you experience Odyssey.
